The fairytales are centre-stage, the fairytales take centre-stage, with the focus on creating immersion and experiences with a great potential for learning. It is to be a place for the whole family, for tourists and visitors and for school pupils.<\/p>\n<p>Why:<\/p>\n<p>Strong need to supplement and develop the present personal\u2013biography\u2013based dissemination of The Hans Christian Andersen Museum with a live communication of Hans Christian Andersen\u2019s fairytales. A need to create a modern attraction that caters for the local, national and international interest in Andersen.<\/p>\n<p>Where:<\/p>\n<p>Lotzes Have with the present Hans Christian Andersen Museum and the Children\u2019s Cultural Centre The Tinder Box is to be extended out across the now closed Thomas B. Thriges Gade to form a total area of almost 9000 m2.<\/p>\n<p>How:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Concept competition. Inspiration and further development of the project. Result: An international concept competition with 475 participants from 57 countries. Three first prizes and one second prize. Concluded April 2014.<\/li>\n<li>Content competition. Development of a scenographic concept. The British company Event Communications declared the winner. Event Communications\u2019 concept to be used as part of the basis for the project competition. Concluded June 2015.<\/li>\n<li>Project competition. Development of architecture for the new Hans Christian Andersen House of Fairytale. 30 highly qualified candidates registered for the pre-qualification, which is announced in EF-Tidende.<\/li>\n<li>Five candidates, selected by Odense Municipality in cooperation with A.P. M\u00f8ller Fonden, anonymously submit their offer for the new Hans Christian Andersen House of Fairytale.<\/li>\n<li>The five candidates are reduced to two, who proceed to the second phase of the project competition The two candidates are: \u00b7 BIG Arkitekter with Moe Ingeni\u00f8rer and SLA Landskab \u00b7 Kengo Kuma Architects with Cornelius+V\u00f6ge Arkitekter, MASU Planning landskabsarkitekter and Eduard Troelsg\u00e5rd Ingeni\u00f8rer<\/li>\n<li>The winner, Kengo Kuma and Associates with Cornelius+V\u00f6ge Arkitekter, MASU Planning landskabsarkitekter and Eduard Troelsg\u00e5rd Ingeni\u00f8rer, is presented on 2 April 2016.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The project:<\/p>\n<p>The winning proposal consists of a total area of 5,600 m2, the main part of which is to be established at underground level. The new Hans Christian Andersen House of Fairytale is to have an exhibition area of 2,500 m2.<\/p>\n<p>Financing:<\/p>\n<p>The new Hans Christian Andersen Museum has a total financing of DKK 305 million. The A.P.
