But little Amalie did. Yes, the student even taught her the whole song, &#8220;Dance, Dance, Doll of Mine!&#8221; and she sang it to her three dolls; two were new, one a girl doll and the other a boy doll, but the third doll was old; her name was Lise-mo\u00e9r. She also heard the song, and was even in it.<\/p>\n<p>Dance, dance, doll of mine!<br \/>\nGirl doll&#8217;s dress is very fine.<br \/>\nBoy doll is a dandy, too;<br \/>\nHe wears gloves and hat and shoe;<br \/>\nWhite pants, blue coat, him adorn;<br \/>\nOn his toe he has a corn.<br \/>\nHe is fine and she is fine.<br \/>\nDance, dance, doll of mine!<\/p>\n<p>Old doll&#8217;s name is Lise-mo\u00e9r;<br \/>\nShe is from the year before;<br \/>\nHair is new; it&#8217;s made of flax,<br \/>\nForehead polished up with wax.<br \/>\nYoung again, not old and done.<br \/>\nCome along, my cherished one,<br \/>\nLet us dance a fast gavotte;<br \/>\nTo watch it is worth a lot.<br \/>\nDance, dance, doll of mine!<\/p>\n<p>Watch your steps and get in line;<br \/>\nOne foot forward; watch your feet.<br \/>\nDancing makes you slender, sweet.<br \/>\nBow and twist and turn around;<br \/>\nThat will make you hale and sound.<br \/>\nWhat a sight it is to see!<br \/>\nYou are doing fine, all three.<\/p>\n<p>And the dolls understood the song; little Amalie understood it, and so did the student, but then he had written it himself and said it was excellent. Only Aunt Malle didn&#8217;t understand it; she had passed over the fence of youth. &#8220;Silly song!&#8221; she said. But not little Amalie! She sings it.
