Shadow Play – The Princess and the Pea
Materials:
- Overhead projektor or photographic lamp
- A long clothesline
- Sheets
- Blackout curtains
- Clothes pegs
- Tape recorder
- Tape with sound effects
- Table (= bed)
- Pea
- Mattresses (= blankets)
- Ladder (optional)
Tie the clothesline at a height of approx. 2 metres across the classroom. Hang it 2-3 metres from the back of the classroom. Place the overhead projektor or photographic lamp so that it illuminates the sheet.
Hang the sheets on the clothesline and fasten them with pegs.
The pupils move one by one or in small groups between the light and the sheet.
- The pupils choose parts.
- Perform the play – sound effects are added along the way. It would be practical to have one pupil to be in charge of the taperecorder.
